about spider tree studios

short version

Spider Tree Studios is a Kansas City art brokerage that brings rotating, monthly shows of local artists' work into neighborhood venues, including Audrey's Wine + Bourbon in Waldo, BLVD Tavern in the Crossroads and Hammers in Midtown. Every piece is for sale on the spot by QR code, and most of each sale goes to the artist.

long version

Spider Tree Studios is a Kansas City art brokerage founded by artists Maggie Miller and Jody Rogers. The studio hangs month-long shows of local artists' work in places people already go: Audrey's Wine + Bourbon in Waldo, BLVD Tavern in the Crossroads and, starting November 2026, Hammers in Midtown. Spider Tree Studios handles curation, installation, marketing, insurance and sales, and throws an opening for every show. Each piece has a tag with a QR code so visitors can buy it on the spot, and artists keep most of every sale. The studio also produces Out on a Limb KC, a monthly podcast pairing conversations with local artists and music from Kansas City bands, and Why Not Wednesday?, a monthly night of local bands and local art with ill-fit records.
